Program Description
         The Master of Arts in Education major in English Language Education program is a competency- oriented, advanced program tailored to prepare students for professional careers as English educators and consultants in different institutional settings.  The program aims to hone the professional’s English language skills knowledgeable in developing various methodological approaches to English curriculum and in teaching English language. It is also designed to develop creative and efficient English language educators able to use competency and outcomes-based standards and blended educational technology for quality education.
Vision
The Master of Arts in Education major in English Language Education envisions to instill a culture of excellence and a globally- oriented English teachers and instructors in all level equipped with strong pedagogical competence in the various methodological approaches in teaching of English language.
Goals
The Master of Arts in Education major in English Language Education aims to develop highly skilled and competent English teachers and instructors able to conduct scientific research and apply the skills in planning and designing English curriculum responsive to the needs of the 21st century learners. The program endeavors to equip English teachers on the foundation of language education, instructional materials preparation, approaches and techniques on teaching English.
Project Intended Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the Master of Arts in Education major English Language Education, graduates are expected to demonstrate:

leadership qualities and professional responsibilities for professional careers in language teaching and supervision;

expertise in research-oriented assessment and evaluation of current educational practices and intelligently integrate the advanced knowledge in linguistics theories, policies, and principles governing English language education and curricula;

competence in understanding the global development and diversities of English language approaches and practices as a result of precise analysis and evaluation of learners’ needs and concerns;

adeptly in conceptualizing and generating educational theories relevant to the diverse learning situation through advanced knowledge in English language;

research capabilities in replicating, verifying, validating, contextualizing, and applying theoretical and practical knowledge in teaching English language; and
-
expertise in generating knowledge cognizant to teaching, learning, and community service attuned to English language education relative to independent research projects and scholarly works.

Program Requirements
Applicants for admission to the Master of Arts in Education:

Must be a holder of bachelor’s degree in the teacher education field from any recognized institution.

Who do not hold a bachelor’s degree in the teacher education program, but still wish to pursue a Master of Arts in Education must earn courses (9 units) relevant to the field in his/her undergraduate program, or may take 9 units in the College of Education while taking the graduate courses.

Must earn the 18 units of professional courses in the discipline before admission to the graduate program.
