Program Description
The Master of Arts in Education major in Filipino Education program is a competency- oriented program designed to offer students with a strong foundation on the theories and concepts in human development and learning, research- based management practices needed for managing 21st century school, curriculum development, and innovations in education. This program aims to develop creative and efficient educators able to use competency and outcomes-based standards and blended educational technology for quality education.

The Master of Arts in Education major in Filipino Education envisions instilling a culture of excellence and globally-oriented educational managers/leaders.
Goals
The Master of Arts in Education major in Filipino Education aims to develop educational leaders/managers able to conduct scientific research and apply the skills in planning, designing, implementation, and evaluation of policies and reforms in education. The program likewise endeavors to prepare educators and would-be school administrators to give a sound and ethical educational leadership at all levels with the ability to drive meaningful and sustainable improvement in educational institutions.
Program Intended Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the Master of Arts in Education major Filipino Education, graduates are expected to demonstrate:

leadership skills, professional responsibilities, and ethical actions in resolving educational management concerns and issues;

expertise in research-oriented assessment and evaluation of current educational practices and intelligently integrate the advanced knowledge in theories, policies, and principles governing educational management;

competence in understanding the global development and diversities of educational management practices as a result of precise analysis and evaluation of school needs and concerns;

adeptly in conceptualizing and generating educational theories relevant to the diverse learning situation through advanced knowledge;

research capabilities in replicating, verifying, validating, contextualizing, and applying theoretical and practical knowledge in managing and leading educational institution; and
-
expertise in generating knowledge cognizant to teaching, learning, and community service attuned to their specialized areas relative to independent research projects and activities.
Program Requirements
Applicants for admission to the Master of Arts in Education:

Must be a holder of bachelor’s degree in the teacher education field from any recognized institution.

Who do not hold a bachelor’s degree in the teacher education program, but still wish to pursue a Master of Arts in Education must earn courses (9 units) relevant to the field in his/her undergraduate program, or may take 9 units in the College of Education while taking the graduate courses.

Must earn the 18 units of professional courses in the discipline before admission to the graduate program.
