The Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng San Pablo (PLSP) College of Nursing and Allied Health Sciences (CNAHS) celebrated its 2nd Capping, Pinning, and Candle Lighting Ceremony, marking a key milestone in the journey of nursing students toward clinical practice, held at the SPC Multi-Purpose and Convention Center on October 10.
The ceremony began with a processional of students, faculty, and honored guests. Dean Cesar R. Hernandez, MAN, RN, gave opening remarks, highlighting the dedication required in the field of nursing.
The symbolic capping and pinning ceremonies followed, where students received their caps and pins—emblems of their commitment to the profession. The candle lighting, a homage to Florence Nightingale, symbolized the students’ pledge to carry the light of compassionate care into their future roles as nurses.
Dr. Judith Mary Ann R. Chan, OIC, Supervising Program Specialist of the Commission on Higher Education Region IV, delivered an inspiring keynote speech, encouraging students to view nursing as a noble calling to serve others. She highlighted that while nursing may not bring financial wealth, it offers the opportunity to heal with love, compassion, and hope, leaving a lasting impact on patients and their families.
The event concluded with the students taking the Nightingale Pledge, affirming their dedication to uphold the values of the nursing profession. It was a powerful reminder of the important role they will play in the future of healthcare.
